Team SunZia: A World Champion

We congratulate Pattern Energy #TeamSunZia on winning the InEight Project Championship. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, integrity, leadership, and deep domain expertise of the SANPEC team. Their technical excellence, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment enabled the project to overcome significant challenges and achieve key milestones on time. The #SunZia project will power over 1 million homes across the Western United States and generate $20.5 billion in economic benefits nationwide.

We are honored to be a trusted partner in the #SunZia #USA Wind and Transmission Project, the largest HVDC energy infrastructure project in U.S. history. This monumental project includes approximately 550 miles of ±525 kV High-Voltage Direct Current transmission line spanning Arizona and New Mexico. The SunZia Wind and Transmission Project is a testament to SANPEC’s ability to deliver complex, high-voltage transmission projects through innovation and effective execution, even in uncertain conditions.

The project faced considerable challenges, including sustaining supply chain continuity, managing materials and manufacturing, and integrating real-time insights, foresight, and technical systems. In response to global supply chain volatility, we proactively mitigated risks to critical component deliveries by re-engineering process designs and enhancing international logistics channels. The team successfully maintained project momentum, minimized schedule variance, and led comprehensive change management initiatives, while adhering to rigorous performance, safety, and sustainability standards.

As global economies become increasingly reliant on electricity to drive industries, power essential services, and enable digital communication, its role has evolved into a fundamental pillar of value creation, productivity, and long-term growth. The SunZia Wind and Transmission Project highlights SANPEC’s devotion to quality, safety, reliability, and resilience. Our approach, grounded in international best practices and the strategic 365 framework, ensured the project met industry standards and adapted to the evolving energy sector.

#TeamSANPEC’s dedication to integrity and high-performance execution has been vital in navigating the complexities of modern grid infrastructure. Their dynamic ability to maintain exceptional standards throughout the engineering, procurement, and delivery phases, despite external disruptions, reflects a sophisticated approach to change management and continuous improvement. The successful realization of the SunZia project underscores the critical impact of their strategic innovation and steadfast commitment to advancing national energy infrastructure.

A key takeaway from this initiative was the profound impact of experiential learning, which emphasized the critical need for proactive stakeholder communication and operational agility when managing unforeseen contingencies. By fostering a culture of transparent dialogue and leveraging empirical, data-driven decision-making, the team successfully recalibrated strategies in real-time to preserve project momentum.

This engagement has further solidified our commitment to continuous improvement and cross-functional innovation, establishing a strong foundation for future high-complexity endeavors.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to #TeamSANPEC for their pivotal role in realizing this critical energy mission in the service of our country and in the betterment of humanity.
